Would you recommend a shot or the pills for treatment of tapeworms?
My 6 month old Aussie got spayed last Friday, and when we got her back from the vet, she had fleas. We put flea medicine on her and they went away, but this morning she had white rice looking things crawling on her feces, I researched this to be tapeworms (she ingested a flea etc..) and called my vet and they said they could either give her a shot, or a series of pills. Do you have experience with these? Which one works better in your opinion? She has a vet appointment in 3 hours, but this part is my choice.
She takes pills decently..I’ve had to force one into her because she wouldn’t take it with anything.
And the vet said that they are pretty much the same effectiveness. The shots might work a littler faster, but it depends on the dog.
I’m so sorry to hear about your baby and the hook worms..when I take her to the vet I’m going to tell them, you know I’m no vet, I may just be guessing at it being tapeworms and have him look at her himself to make sure she gets the best treatment.

I would say it depends on your dog. How well does she take pills? I just went to the vet this past weekend for the same thing with my pup, and I wasnt given a choice. The pills, in my case, are only 2. One that day and one 3 weeks from then. They are pretty large pills but can be chewed. My pup wouldnt take it from the vet but when I gave it to her she ate it right away. You can also ask the vet if one is more effective than the other, but I imagine they are the same medication in different forms.
Your vet should answer your question for you as he is your best source of information
I would get this taken care of ASAP! They could be hook worm. I just got a puppy Wednesday of last week. We rescued her from nasty owners that didn’t take care of her at all… We took her to the vet. She had Hook worm really bad. They had already attached themselves and eating her blood. Her iron count was down to 7.. a normal dogs is 30! The vet and I did everything we could to get rid of them, she passed away with horrid bleeding over the weekend. Poor baby struggled so hard to make it…. SO my advice would Take care of it ASAP! you can get pills from the store that will kill a wide range of worms. That is a start. I would also call the vet and see if they could give you a prescription for worms. Hope this helps!
