Worming Medication for Dogs?
I think that my Boxer/Mastiff mix has tapeworms… When he go poop he has little white moving worms in his poop. I looked it up online and it said that it could be tape worms or roundworms. Upon reading more I think that it is tapeworms. The website that I found said that deworming can be done by either oral medication or by injection and the most common antiparasitic agent used is praziquantel another is epsiprantel. I am wondering which is the best and the safest to use on my dog. I adopted him from the pound and he was sent to a vet before he even came home. They neutered him and they were supposed to check for internal parasites. They called me and asked me if I wanted to have him checked for heart worms, at that time I didn’t but plan to very soon. When I picked him up they told me that he did not have any intestinal parasites. I brought him home and not even a week later he has worms. What should I do?
I plan to take him to the vet in the morning and get the medication. I just want to know what is the best and the safest.

You should get some worming tablets from the vet, over the counter wormers are not as effective. Also dispose of any stools from your dog and flush them down the toilet, as eggs can lay dormant for years and your dog or others can get re infested.
I worm my two Labs every 3 months and don’t have a problem with worms.
Just get a dewormer from your vet. It works very quickly. You should also put him on heartworm medication as soon as possible. It’s not surprising for a pound puppy to have these problems.
In addition to monthly heart worm preventive, I use strongid T at least twice a year for my dogs. You can purchase it from a feed store or vet’s office.
take him to the vet and get worm meds..its not that expensive..and the drontal i think its called kills all kinds of the worms ..my pills were 6 a piece,,
You can either call them back and tell them he indeed has worms or you can take him to your own vet. The choice is yours. I would also say that your seeing tape worms and not round worms. Round worms look like long spaghetti and not tiny segments witch tape worms are!
