One of my foster dogs was treated with Cestex for tapeworms. I gave her the pill 24 hours ago but am still seeing tapeworms in her bedding and her stool. On the medication package it says it works by paralyzing the worms and allowing them to be digested. It also says you should not see anymore tapeworms after treatment. Just want to be sure the meds are working. I will be giving a 2nd dose in two weeks just to be safe but obviously want them gone now and am concerned that I still see worms.

I want to add, I am not 100 percent sure it the smell was out of normal, but if he died from worms, how long does it take for a puppy to die from worms, and how do i know if it was parvo or worms?
We got a rot and german sheperd mix from my mom, I would say he was about 2-3 months old. The first day we got him he seemed fine and then the next day we were taking him for a walk and I oicked him up and watery diarehha came out. He still seemed fine and then the next day, when I got hime from work he was not very energetic and seemed sick, I thought maybe from the heat. I also noticed that he did not eat and barley drank his water. We moved his dog house near the shade and later that night he still would not eat. The next day my mom came over to look at him and she checked his poop and there were white stuff in it, my mom said he had worms so I bought some worm medicine and gave it to him that day.. About an hour later he was up playing and finally eating. Then the next day he seemed to be getting worse and then when i went out this Am to checkj on him he was laying there and flys on him. He was nearly dead, I came in the house to call vets and in about an hour he was finally dead. His back in was very thin, he was also vomiting and diarrha(water like).. I am wondering if it was worms or parvo and how do i know the difference? If it was parvo what do I need to do outside to be able to get another puppy.. My puppy had not had it shots yet and the people we got it from said at 6 weeks, they did worm him.

My dog recently (last week/10 days) has occasionally ENERGETICALLY attempted to lick/clean/get at her anal area. Twice this episode has lasted 3-4 minutes, then she settles down to sleep. I checked for worms, but saw no evidence. I haven’t seen her scoot on her bottom during this time. I got Drontal (worm medicine) anyway for her. Since giving her the worm med., she has done the above same once more, I believe. I also have noticed no odor.????

let me start with a little back story i guess..
we have a 2 1/2 year old male basset hound. we’ve had him a year in october. i’m pretty sure he was severely beat before we had him, because he has scars on his body and he is terrified of children. he is a very timid dog, but it has never been problematic, he just seems to have trust issues, but he’ll eventually warm up to you.
starting monday, i have been taking him on much longer walks than what we usually take him on. i don’t know if it’s because we’ve had 105-110 temperatures before and now it’s starting to cool down in our area and now he just wants to be outside all the time to enjoy the weather, but he will not stop whining!
he will lay on our beds and whine and whine, not do anything else.. or he’ll be out in the living room with us and still whine. even when we’re petting him, he whines.. this behavior hasn’t started until this past monday, and it’s now thursday.
he hasn’t eaten anything out of the ordinary that maybe is causing him pain in his stomach, he doesn’t have worms (he did about a month ago, he was giving a de-worming medicine and antibiotics to get rid of them) i really don’t know what else could be bothering him except he just wants to go outside. well, we live in an apartment, so we can’t just let him out in a back yard to let him be outside, and i really don’t think it’s separation anxiety, because we have done nothing differently other than taking him on a longer-than-usual walk…
if anyone else’s dog has behaved like this or if anyone has any advice, i would greatly appreciate it.
@Kimberly – if you only knew..
if you’ve ever owned a basset or opened a book about a basset, you’d know they spend about 80% of their time sleeping. and no, the whining doesn’t stop when we take him for a walk. i don’t care how long you’ve been a dog owner.. just because bassets were used for hunting, doesn’t mean they’re all hunters 8D he adores my guinea pigs and chinchilla he would never hurt them… sounds like a working/hunting dog to me.. so if you wouldn’t mind, pipe down and lecture someone else.
