This has been a chronic problem since I have owned my cats. They are about 4 months old, and I have brought them to the vet twice for this. They were checked twice for worms, both times negative. Still, I was given oral meds to give them for the often occuring worms, and then went back a second time and they were given a pill for tapeworms. While I "think" one has stopped scooting, but I just saw the other cat scoot. I asked the vet about anal sac issues, and he said they were really too young to have those issues. Any other relevant facts…hmmm, neither one of them is stellar with cleaning their rears (they left their mother too young and I don’t think that they were taught to clean themselves). I end up washing their butts for them (yuck). Anyway, I need some help because I just finished steam cleaning my carpets and I really don’t want to have to deal with this on a regular basis.

We’d gotten it from the vet last year.. now we have puppies AND a mama dog that "pig out" on the stuff when we’re not there to pick up the accidents. They have tapeworms ( which is from ingesting fleas) and that’s being treated. the pills are expensive and as long as they are having the "snacks" we’ll NEVER get rid of them.. I’m conserned for their long-term health… They are Dachshunds with a pedigrees as long as they are…but that goes to show us all that a dog is, after all, just a dog… no matter how much we spend on them or love them…
Any suggestions would be appreciated…

My husband and I want to adopt this cat we saw today at the shelter. We already have 2 other cats. The shelter informed us that this cat has tapeworm, and that they will give her a pill if we decide on whether or not we are going to adopt her. We are going back there tomorrow to confirm our adoption, and were wondering how long does it take for the medication to be effective? We are worried that our other cats will become infected. Please help! I can’t seem to find any information on here about how long it takes to be effective and rid of the tapeworms!

Took both my kittens to the vet and they got their final shots. The vet didn’t want to overwhelm them so they gave us the yellow liquid to give to them at home. So we gave them their medicine through their food, and now I see tapeworms again. They had them before we got their front line medicine, and I put on the front line when we got back from the vet and hadn’t seen any tapeworms until yesterday. Is it harmful to use Trade winds Tape Worm Tabs for Cats, since I just gave them the yellow medicine from the vet for hookworms and such on sunday?
