My nine month old pup who is about sixty pounds has had visible and MOVING round worms in his vomit and stools. He went to the vet for it and was treated about a month and a half ago. Recently, we saw moving worms again in his stool so we bought D-Worm from the grocery store. He was given that medicine two days ago and today there were still many moving worms in his stool.

With a dewormer, does it kill the worms while they are still inside of his or is it supposed to make him get rid of them while they are still alive?

Also, how long does it take to work? This product had us give him a large dose and then it says he may need a second dose in two weeks!
Sorry, I should have specified. My dog has roundworms and the medicine I bought is specifically for roundworms.
Also,

He did vomit often… but, after our initial vet visit he has not been vomiting. He is eating well and is not thin- just meaty lol. The only sign of worms are the ones visibly alive in his stool.

I have a 5.5lb, 1yr4mo old male Chihuahua. I took him in for his annual check up and when they did the fecal test they found he had roundworms and FLUKE eggs in his stool. I religiously give him his Interceptor medicine (to prevent heartworm and various worms) but he still had roundworm. What I am concerned about is the FLUKE. In my area the FLUKE (worm) is very very rare and the vet doesn’t know where he picked it up. I have researched and know all about the trasmission through fecal matter…….my little guy is super clean, very well behaved- he doesn’t dig in the dirt, is only outside to go potty only rarely trys to eat stuff (like pieces of bark) off the ground. I closely supervise him and take things out of his mouth he isn’t supposed to have. He does NOT eat raw fish and is not exposed to lake water etc. (some of the possible ways to get Fluke) He is being treated with medicine right now. (He had no symptoms of infection) Please tell me your dogs experience!!! Are they healthy?

Boxer puppy not putting on weight?

We have a 7 month old female spayed boxer who is fairly skinny and can’t seem to put on weight. She doesn’t necessarily look like an abuse victim, but you can see her ribs and her hip bones fairly well. I know boxers are supposed to be lean but I don’t think you should see bones? The vet said she is very healthy and to just increase the amount of food that we feed her, which we have done, and she still isn’t putting on weight. (she is vet checked regularly and UTD on her puppy shots) We feed her Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy formula 3-4 times a day in the amount that the vet recommended. We were feeding her the same amount that we feed our 11 month old golden retriever, but are now are feeding her a bit more. (our golden retriever is not underweight but isn’t as active and is quite a bit larger) We also feed the dogs separately so that one isn’t stealing from other. When we initially bought her at 8 weeks old, she had a severe case of roundworms and a fairly good size tape worm also, but has since been treated regularly and all tests indicate that she is parasite free.
Is there any other possibly higher calorie dog food we should give her or any other advice on how to put a little meat on her bones? Besides being a skinny girl she is a active, good natured little dog!
Thanks!!

Worming Medication for Dogs?

I think that my Boxer/Mastiff mix has tapeworms… When he go poop he has little white moving worms in his poop. I looked it up online and it said that it could be tape worms or roundworms. Upon reading more I think that it is tapeworms. The website that I found said that deworming can be done by either oral medication or by injection and the most common antiparasitic agent used is praziquantel another is epsiprantel. I am wondering which is the best and the safest to use on my dog. I adopted him from the pound and he was sent to a vet before he even came home. They neutered him and they were supposed to check for internal parasites. They called me and asked me if I wanted to have him checked for heart worms, at that time I didn’t but plan to very soon. When I picked him up they told me that he did not have any intestinal parasites. I brought him home and not even a week later he has worms. What should I do?
I plan to take him to the vet in the morning and get the medication. I just want to know what is the best and the safest.

How can I help prevent/get rid of my dog's roundworms?

My boyfriend recently got a puppy (he’s 8 weeks old now) that we’re both taking care of, and we’ve noticed that he poops out worms. Just today, he vomitted some worms after we gave mixed some deworming medicine into his food. I’ve done some research and discovered that they’re actually roundworms (I believe). We’re taking him to get his shots this week though. I’m actually a little worried that the roundworms are transmissible to humans from what I’ve read. Is this true? Has anyone experienced this? I know I’m a little too worried, but I just want him to be healthy. Will the roundworms go away after being treated, or will he be seriously affected?
