We just adopted a new puppy and of course are going through all the normal stuff with getting a stray. Fleas, tapeworms, etc. We ended up buying one of the cheaper versions of flea medicine at Petco, while I was waiting for my shipment of Advantage and it just seemed to drive the fleas nuts. Our poor little puppy has been itching non-stop. we have the Advantage now, but I’m not sure if I can put it on her. She finally just had a bath (had to wait 10 days because of her spaying surgery, boy did she stink). I think it should be okay to put the new one on especially if this other one isn’t working, right?

How long does it take for the tapeworms to go away? He just went to the bathroom and I didnt really see any but I also didnt exactly look IN it or anything.. He got it from a roommates mutt and she had it but got treated a couple days ago for it.. Should I keep my dog away from that parasite dog or is it okay for them to be around each other considering they both had it and both have been treated for it?
I used Praziquantel which is a drug that the vets use. I called my vet back home and they told me that was a good one to use… That is why I went to PetCo

my 12ish week old kitten has tapeworms (i have no idea how, because he hasn’t had fleas since we got him 6 weeks ago, and he’s not around other cats)
anyway, we took him to Petco 2 weeks ago because they had a traveling vet clinic giving vaccines, and we got him some vaccines and they also gave him dewormer. well we thought it got rid of the worms, but earlier this week we started seeing them again.
i read online not to buy the over the counter dewormer, so should we take him back to Petco again this weekend and have him dewormed by them or should we take him to another vet?
did that vet give him the wrong medicine or does it just take multiple treatments?
other than totally grossing me out, is it bad for him to have them?
he is basically an inside cat. since we got him, he’s only been outside 4 or 5 times.

I got my kitten from petsmart about two weeks ago, all of a sudden she started getting really bad diarrhea. i switched her food thinking that was the problem. her diarrhea continued. than one day she pooped out a tapeworm. So I went to petco and bought her some over the counter tapeworm medication. My question is: If the medication worked will the diarrhea go away and how long will it take and if it won’t go away how do i make it go away?

Ok, so my cat has tapeworms…gross little white maggoty segments coming from his butt….gross;

I’m going to take care of it, so no problem (petco to buy those pills tomorrow morning…sorry, I’m too poor to afford a vet).

My Cat has NEVER had fleas though; so I’m trying to figure out how he got one in the first place….or could he have had one since i got him (about a year ago).

Also, im kinda a hypocondriac…is it possible i caught the worms from him…hes always sleeping in my bed…I feel fine and eat spicy food all the time. I hear garlic pills are good for you, and if you take 4 at once it will kill one if you have one…ugh my stomach is growling anyway…
