My dog coughed up blood just a little bit ago and I don’t know what else I can do to help her. She is my husbands favorite dog and he’ll do anything to keep her going.
She is a 13 yr old Dalmation. She throws up about 1 meal at day. We have been to the vet, and have had allergy medications, worm medications, and now she only gets a low dose anti-acid before every meal. Her meals can consist of cottage cheese, rice, chicken or beef broth, a special prescription dry food. The last couple of days, she only will dare to eat some of these things some of the time. So now I hear there is some other kind of medicine that we can give her that is a last ditch effort to help calm her tummy. Do any of you know what it is? Or is there anything I can do at all to help her feel better tonight?
PS We have a doctor appt tomorrow at 9am.

I bought a puppy(Aussie mix) from a local animal shelter just a couple days ago. She is about 6 weeks old and has round and hook worms. The vet had been giving her de-worming medicine every two weeks, but because the puppy was around other dogs with worms, the medicine couldn’t quite do its job. The vet said that adopting the puppy would do her a whole lot of good. But, I have had her for three days so far, and I see no signs of improvement. She is very lethargic and weak, sleeps all day, and isn’t interested in any toy. She can’t eat dry food yet, and turns her nose away from any wet puppy food. (Which is very odd, because the first day I brought her home, she ate an entire can.) The only thing she CAN eat is puppy formula. Only, she can’t keep it down for long. Her poop is very runny and comes out in squirts, which, from what I’ve read, means she’s dehydrated. (Clean water is always at her disposal.) I don’t want to give up on her so soon, because she’s a very sweet dog, but, I’m afraid that I am just not what’s best for her. I don’t have the time or money to help her if she stays sick for much longer. I am considering taking her to the vet tomorrow, just to see what they say, and if they believe that she’d be in better hands there, then so be it. TELL ME that I am just being completely over dramatic, that all puppies go through this and that she will be fine. Because, I really, REALLY don’t want to see her go.

Ok, well not completely anorexic… but it’s like my dog has a tape worm? She was a stray that I took in, she was pregnant and I took her to the vet for her spay ASAP. She’s been given ALL her shots, dewormed, everything! The vet says she’s a "healthy girl" but she’s so dang skinny? I can feel ribs!! & sometimes if she stretches out and the sun hits her just right u can SEE them too!! I feed her so much trying to get her to put on some weight but she just doesn’t? She gets dry food, wet food, treats, bones, etc but she mostly sets everything aside? She’ll only eat a part of her meals. I’m wondering if my dog is "watching her figure" ? lol… is that possible? My other dog could care less cause she’s so fat! They both get the same amount of exercise and play time… I’m just wondering if some dogs can be picky about their weight? Haha, thanks for any advice

Hi my dog has had the runs since friday, i have only had him for a week, he is 11 months old and had his jags all up to date.
His stools dont have any blood in them. He has been wormed and flea treated.
His previous owners gave me some of the food he was eating so i could very gradually wean him onto the food i have for him, i think the pedigree complete dry food my be too rich for him.
I was speaking to the vet over the phone today, and she said he may have just picked up a bug, and to starve him for 24hrs then give him small amounts of scramble egg and boiled rice, as this will help to bind his stools together. Has anyone else had this problem with their dog and what did you do ?
Ps someone on here recommended pepto bismal as they said their vet said that was ok, i asked my vet today and she said that it would be against the regulations of a vet to recommend medicine for dogs that is only for human consumption.

I added garlic powder in it’s moist food (usually give him dry food since moist food can rot their teeth). Is there anything else that I can give that’s safe and natural and effective at getting rid of the worms versus medication from the vet?
