On thursday my vet will be giving me the pill Drontal. I noticed that one of my cats had tape worms by the "rice" looking object on her butt fur. I have 3 cats total and have seen nothing on the other cats. I called my vet who has seen all my cats and although I KNOW what tape worms are, he suggested bringing her in for an exam anyways. Therefore thats why its gonna be Thursday. He had already mentioned that he would send her home with Drontal and also a pill for my other 2 cats. Question is, how long will this take to work? I hear about Diareah and loose stool and it concerns me because Saturday morning I am moving and my cats will be in the car all day. They will of course have their litter box but this is an 18 hour trip across 2 states. Should I wait until Sunday to administor the pills? I want them to be comfortable but also want this gotten rid of asap! They are on advantage so im still pondering how she got worms when they are all strictly indoor cats. any help is great!

2. Drontal is given for tapeworms. The dosage is 1 tablet per 25 lbs. If a dog weighs 75 lbs, how many tablets should be given?

Recently, my small yorkie contracted a tapeworm. We took her to the vet yesterday afternoon and she was prescribed Drontal Plus Taste Tab, 22.7, K-9. We were told to give her one pill lst night, and then administer the second one in 3 weeks to make sure all the larvi and eggs had died. We gave her the pill which she chewed up an she kept it down for a little over 3 hours. After that she started vomiting. When we caleld the vet to see if he thought the pill was in effect or if we had to adminsiter another one, he asked us if the pill was in the vomit. Since our dog chewed it up, we had no way of telling whether or not it was in the vomit. He told us that we could administer the second pill if we felt we had to, but just to use our judgement on whether we had to our not. The pill contained praziquantel, 22.7 mg/ pyrantel pamoate, 22.7 mg/ febantel, 113.4 mg. Does anyone out there know what we should do in this situation. Our dog, Gracie is barely 4lbs, and her 1st birthday will be on Easter.

i have given my cat drontal, and i am just wondering how the tape worm is supposed to come out when the tablet works

i just got 1 1/2 tablets of drontal from the vets. i tried everything to get it down her throat including putting it in butter and shoving it in the back of her throat and nothing worked so i finally chopped it up and put it in wet food. She only ate about 3/4 of a tablet, will it still work?
