Please help my dog is very sick!

I have a 4 year old male Rottweiler, named Sledge. He is a great dog, very happy and smart. For about the first 3 years we had him, he was fine with illnesses, nothing too major. But towards the end of the third, he became really sick. We found out he had flees, and he was very allergic to them. Its kind of the same reaction as a human would have if they were allergic to bees. He had a open wound on his back by his ass from digging and bitting it so much. We had him treated, put a cone on his head and let the soars heal. After that, every time he would go outside to poop, it would literally be like water, nasty diarrhea. He lost a lot of weight, so much that you were able to start seeing his ribs. And we would feed him non stop to try and make him full, but he would still be hungry and resort to eating his own feces. First the vet told us it was probably a worm, so we gave him medicine to wipe it out. When Sledge did not respond to the medicine, we went back and the doctor then told us he was probably allergic to dog food. So, we ended up making dog food for him. It was a bit different each week; it usually consisted of rice, oats, a type of bean, a time a of meat (usually chicken) [my mom isn't a veggie], and pasta. Some weeks it would contain other ingredients, but that was the bases for the most part. Sledge’s stool began to thicken, it was still loose but it seemed to be helping. He put all of his weight back on and he seemed to be doing wonderful. So that was about 8 months ago. Through the duration of the eight months, he seemed to begetting much healthier with his weight and his stool gradually firmed up and became less discolored (from yellowish back to brown.) But now, it seems he is getting the open, infected wounds again. We counted a total of 5; a lot are on his back side; but the worse one is on his neck, and it’s the most infected. It is oozing like a green pus. The other ones have looked like they scabbed over, but are very dry and he keeps itching at them. We gave him another bath again today [we gave him one last week, with pet shampoo] and today I used my Selson Blue [watered down.] We washed his body as best we could, and washed his wounds a lot. We took of the dead, dry skin from the other four wounds on his back area so they wouldn’t itch as badly.
We let him air dry a little, and then put peroxide on his open scabs. I think it really help to eat the neck wound out.
And also, on top of his head it is very bumpy, and they are like soars underneath his skin. My mom was talking to her old co-worker who is a nurse and she said if those are appearing that means it is in the blood system.

But my mom is jumping to conclusions, and thinks we should have him put down because he is suffering and we don’t have the money to run a bunch of tests again.
As of right now, I don’t think he is suffering enough to be put down. The thing that is really bothering him is that he has to stay in our back room because we don’t want the pus from the scabs all over the house and then maybe having one of our other animals catch it.

And I am really hoping the nurse is wrong, because that was my moms big issue; she said if its in the blood there is really no way of curing him.

So, please, if anyone as any advice on what maybe happening to my best friend, please please please respond !

I need to know if it is safe to give otc worm medicine to a dog that potentialy has an intestinal blockage resulting from eating a steak bone. She ate the bone last Monday and I didn’t know there were any problems till yesterday. We were experiencing bad weather (including snow) so I hadn’t been out to clean up the yard and collect their leavings until Friday. This was when I noticed that she hadn’t been going to the bathroom regularly. I knew that she had experienced diarrhea at one point during the week but I wasn’t that concerned. At the time I dismissed. She didn’t seem to feel bad. Everything was in a range that would be considered normal. She doesn’t appear to be in any pain. She is eating and drinking normaly. The only apparent problem would be the diarrhea. I am inclined to avoid the vet for many reasons (chiefly among them is her safety) but I will be taking her tomorrow if she doesn’t produce solid stool. I just want to rule out the possibility of her having worms before she goes to the doctor and they slice her open and dig around looking for a small piece of bone. I know she shouldn’t be eating cooked bones. I didn’t give it to her. The only thing we have done is keep a close eye on her and feed her cooled chicken and rice. So, knowing all that, can I give her the worm medicine?
Thank you
[Edit] The point of the question is that I do not know she has an intestinal obstruction. I want to safely rule out any other potential problems before I take her to the vet. The keyword is safely. I am hesitant to give her a laxative because she might have an obstruction and I don’t want force anything through that may damage her. I am also hesitant to give her anything to stop the diarrhea because I don’t want to create any extra intestinal pressure for fear of rupture.
Regarding the vet, I know the mortality rate for for the potential surgery required to remove the obstuction. At best it is 12%. That’s best case scenario. My dog is also half coyote. She is very timid and fears all people. When she was spayed it was necessary to sedate and muzzle her before she would even get out of the car. This coupled with the anesthetic are complicating factors. I am asking the question because I don’t know.
Thank you,

how do you know forsure if u have a tapeworm?

I took those green tea supplement pills, but they didn’t make me feel so good after a week or so so i stopped taking them because i was getting really bad stomach aches and i always felt like i was going to throw up or somthing. The last 4 days i haven’t been wanting to eat what so ever..ill eat and only take like two bites and im done cuz i feel sick or full. Its weird cuz i know its not the flu,cuz i don’t have a runny nose or a cough or feel a cold sweat. Its just my stomach and i feel like im going to throw up. my sis told that sometimes theres worms inside those pills so i freaked out and checked the symptoms, but they seems so normal,so i would’t know, the symptoms are nausea, abdominal pain, putrid wind, loss of appetite, weakness, diarrhea…..as embarrassing as it is,i have this symptoms…should i go to the doctor or something or is it nothing.

My vet recommended that I get Praziquantel Tape Worm Tabs Feline from Tradewinds and I did. I gave him the dose approximately 5 hours ago and he hasn’t gone to the litter box since. What should I expect to happen? Will he pass one large tape worm? Will it take a couple of days to get out of his system completely? Anyone else given their cat this medication and it had diarrhea or dehydration? I also have him on Advantage now for the fleas so I have that part covered.

Did I contract worms from my new kitten?

I just got a kitten last week, she is about 10 weeks old and hasn’t had any shots. Soon after I got her I started to feel sick to the stomach, and I haven’t really had my normal appetite since, and I have had a slight case of diarrhea. I have only had one bowl movement since that has been normal. When I made the normal bowl movement I saw what I thought may have been an adult tape worm but I am not expert and I have seen similar things in my stool before, just never with this kind of sick stomach. At least that I can remember.

My new kitten is very friendly, When I got her she would lick my lips and paw at them, and even try to sleep on my face or head. I am afraid that is how I may have contracted these worms. I got the kitten some de-worming stuff from the local feed and pet supply store, since I can’t quite afford to get her shot until I get paid. And then again I do not really know if she has worms… The girl at the pet supply store said she would kind of have a big belly if she was infected. When I got her she had kind of a shaggy belly and I think I may have let her eat too much, because now she has a nice fat belly.

I really can’t afford to see a doctor anytime soon, in fact I am in debt to my normal family doctor. I saw some other Q and A’s about worms, but I was still unsure what to do. Are non-prescription medicines for worming safe, affordable, and effective? Does it sound like I really have worms or could I just a have a stomach flu or something? I rarely get sick, but it’s impossible to never get sick right?

The best evidence I have against a case of worms is I started to feel sick very soon after I got her. I mean how long does it take for some worms to set up camp in my insides and start making me feel bad? I really don’t know if I got sick after she started pawing at my lips or before.

Halp!
