Tape Worm Medicine and other Pet Worm Help
Dogs get tapeworms from fleas. They only need to chew on one flea to get a tapeworm. Tapeworm segments can sometimes be seen in the poop (or around the anus, on fur etc.). The segments resemble grains of rice or little pieces of pasta, but sometimes you can see them wiggle. Tapeworms cannot be treated with a regular dewormer given orally. The pet must get an injection from the vet that will dissolve the tapeworm. It is very common, in fact at my vet office, a pet owner can walk in and request a tapeworm injection, and not have to see the vet or be charged for an office visit. The tapeworm injection runs about $25. To control fleas (and prevent your dog from getting tapeworms again), I prefer Frontline plus. It is waterproof, and lasts up to 3 months per dose, rather than the typical monthly application, and it also works for ticks. It is best to apply Frontline at least 2 days before or after a bath, because it needs the oils in the skin and hair follicles to circulate. And for the home, I prefer a natural approach, and you usually can rid them without an exterminator. I have also heard that borax (boric acid) powder treatment is very effective when the problem is bad and if you have a lot of carpeted areas affected. http://www.stopthefleas.com/natural-flea-remedies.html

Since you are asking about fleas and possible worms, tapeworms are very likely.
By the way, fleas and lice are 2 completely unrelated pests (referring to an previous answer here) and there is no way that fleas cause lice!
And advantage multi will do nothing for tapeworms, though can be helpful with other type of worm problems (hookworms, roundworms and whipworms.) However, those type of worms are not likely your culprit. Advantage is a decent product, but not waterproof, and I find it to be less effective than Frontline in my experience, but everyone will have their own preference.
Check out the 2 following links for tapeworm info.
Worm him, flea bomb the house, wash his bedding every week and vacuum/ clean his area every few weeks
i recently had fleas at my house they are some f little stinkers one way to keep them away (fleas) is giving your doggy a bath
dont let him go outside unless you walk him about worms just go to a veterinarian and ask them i dont think they will charge you for a question XD
PS: to keep fleas out of your house constantly change your sheets
Use Frontline on the dog and bomb the house if it’s bad. Take dog to vet and have them deworm it.
Worms are able to be told by the loss of weight and by the small white/or long white things in your dogs poop. The best way to get rid of worms is the vet! The shot is the best way and most effective way to go. Any over the counter things for worms does not work and is bad for the dog! As for fleas, easy! You can get the flea pet spray for your house, but if they are already in there, chances are you will need an exterminator for the house! They never leave once their in there and can give YOU lice! Fleas can usually only be exterminated by a professional bug remover/exterminator! As for getting rid of them on the animal, frontline!! The little liquid capsules you squirt on the back of the animals neck! Lasts from 2-4 months! You just have to make sure you get it for the right size of your animal! Too much can make it sick! We used frontline on my boxer all his life and it kept the fleas away for years!!
Take him to the vet. The worm "medicine" you buy at the grocery store is worthless. Have the vet test for worms (usually you will need to take a stool sample to be tested), then worm him if necessary. If he hasn’t had all his vaccinations, get started on that, too. If he hasn’t been neutered yet, schedule that for as soon as possible. Buy Frontline Plus, or whatever flea prevention your vet recommends, and heartworm preventative. He’ll probably have to have a simple blood test before they start heartworm prevention.
Using the flea prevention your vet recommends will keep fleas out of your house. Any that hop on your pet will be killed. Just be sure to use it each month. I always do my monthly treatments on the first. It’s easy to remember that way.
Do not use flea killers made by Hartz, or any other brand you can buy at Walmart or the supermarket. My cat very nearly died after I used Hartz on him. The vet said the fleas get resistant, so the companies have to make the treatments stronger and stronger to keep them effective. They are to the point now where they are toxic and pets are dying, as well as the fleas! Stay safe and use what your vet recommends.
If it sounds like a lot of money, for tests, treatments, etc, it is a fair chunk. But many of these things (such as worming, heartworm test, neutering) generally only have to be performed once. Vaccinations, flea and heartworm prevention, is all routine maintenance of your pet. When you chose to adopt a pet, you signed on for getting all these things done. It is just part of being a responsible pet owner. Please don’t be a pet owner if you aren’t going to be a responsible one!
If you are financially challenged, call your local shelter for the number of a low-cost pet clinic, or talk to your vet about payment arrangements. Most vets are kind hearted people and will work with you.
Please don’t delay due to the cost. Good luck!
The best way to avoid having fleas in your house is to invest in a good flea product for your animals. The vet has a product called Advantage Multi for dogs. It costs about $12 dollars a month, but it also takes care of the worms too. Just apply it above the shoulder blades of your animal.
