My Dog has worms and spittle because of his medicine[?]?
My dog has worms, which he got from another dog which died a few days ago. We already brought him to the vet. But when we gave him his medicine, he started to act drunk (-> woobly back legs, cant walk straight) and spittle A LOT (major deposit of saliva). The doctor didn’t say anything about side effects of the medicine and would be too expensive to bring him back. But when it is the only choice… I’m asking if I can do something else…

Only choice now….GET TO VET>>>>>expensive….what is life of your PET worth !!!!
You dog may be having a bad reaction to the medication, and it sounds pretty serious. If the back legs aren’t functioning correctly, something is very wrong. Your only option is to take him to the vet. Caring for dogs can be expensive, they are like children and you have to be prepared for the worst.
If you honestly cannot afford a trip to the vet, you should take him to the SPCA. You can sign him over and he should receive all the medical care he needs, along with finding a good home.
Good luck with your dog.
Hypersalivation is a common reaction to medication in dogs, but that doesnt mean its okay! I’d get your dog to the vet, as your dog is probably having a bad reaction to the medication. Keeping it on the medication could harm it more!
Sorry to hear that. I to have a dog, and if this would be happening to my dog, I would at least call my vet and insist on over the phone instructions, just like a pharmacist does for us. I say it’s your vets responsibility to take the call. Go to http://www.answers.com and enter the medicine name, it will give you a whole bunch of info and links about it. If it has to do with upset stomach, give your dog some cooked rice water, or a little cooked oatmeal, it should do the trick. Hope your dog feels better.
Talk to your vet via telephone call. There should not be a charge for followup phone call. He might be overdosed or having an allergic reaction.
Call the vet and ask what the side effects are. If you are using a good vet they will be more than happy to answer any questions you have without telling you to always bring the dog in.
