How much to get rid of tapeworms and get first shots for puppy on a first vet visit?
Ok so i bought this little puppy i say doesnt even weigh a pound its a chihuahua mixed. I bought him at a yard sale(mistake i know). i didnt ask how old it was i was too excited to take her home she was only 40 dollars you dont come around tiny chihuahuas for so cheap so i took her. Id say shes about a month and a half? she has no teeth yet maybe like 3 small ones BARLEY coming in. well i took her home and 3 days later she finaly poopd and i found a single worm size of rice wasnt moving. well i dont doubt this dog has its shots or any sort of medical treatmet so my question is roughly how much would it be on a first visit to my vet. I need to get her her first shots an i think something to cure the worms because i dont know if that was just one of MANY! I dont have much money seeing im only 17 and so at this time so what thinking of buying over the counter shots and worm treatment since my friend works at a pet store and gets discounts on things so itd be cheaper. I really need advise on this.
I dont doubt this dog DOESNT have its shot* had to reword that correctly.

Call some vets in your area, explain the puppy’s age, etc, and ask what the first puppy visit, vaccinations & deworming will cost. The price can vary from vet to vet. While many people do get vaccinations from feed stores ,etc to give their own dogs, this is not a good idea for a first time puppy owner. The rabies vaccine, you can’t get at a store–it can only be given by a licensed vet. Over-the-counter products have been known to cause some problems for some dogs, it could be pretty harmful for a tiny chihuahua.
If you want to ensure your puppy has a good start & stays healthy, see a vet for her puppy vaccines & checkup. Good luck.
add: any vet can give you an estimate of costs over the phone. Where I am, some charge 30 -45 for an exam, vaccines are about $20-30 each.
ur pup might be younger than u think since it has not many teeth showing yet. all pups have worms and tape worms need to be treated with regular doses every few weeks until all the signs such as rice looking shells are gone. round worms are pretty much in all pups and come from the moms milk.call the local vets around and explain how u got her and they can give her a good checkup and guess her age along with treating all kinds of worms with the right meds for her weight and age.some over the counter drugs are not that great and can make her pretty sick without doing the job and in the long run it will cost u more.the vet will give her her first set of shots and deworming then u go back for a second set and then a booster. it most likely will cost about $100 but here in canada it is a lot more, and just to neuter my little poochi is almost $300.tape worms come from fleas that the pup eats or from eatting rodents and they can really get huge and congest all the internal organs and cause bleeding and death if not treated.ur frind can get u nice discounts on food and shampoos etc,but when it comes to treating ur pup take her in . good luck with ur baby.
