How much do you think it will cost to take my dog to the vet for tapeworm?
I just found out my dog has tapeworms. Last night I was on the computer and my dog was sleeping on my lap (she is a 6 month old teacup chihuahua) when I noticed something on her butt, it looked like a worm and later dried up to look like rice. I took her out to use the restroom and she pooped and I saw one more of them in her poop. I am taking my dog to the vet today to get checked out. This is my first time owning my own dog away from home (I just got married and he brought me the dog as a wedding gift and calls it our baby… its so cute lol) I know a Fecal Exam is .50 is that all they charge plus the cost of medicine? Please help…. I’m new at this!!
P.S I have NO idea how she got these. I do evey thing the vet said, I give her heartworm pill once a month, She got dewormed when she was 6 weeks old (it says so on the health papers I got when I brought her) I took her to the vet and they dewormed her again and I did the repeat they told me to 3 weeks later. What went wrong?

It really depends on your vet. I was outside with my dog and he just finished doing his business and I went to pick up the poo and noticed a white worm that looked like a piece of rice. Gross! I went and got a zip lock bag and a stick and put a piece of the poo and made sure to get one of the worms in the bag. I took that to the vet and showed him and they didn’t charge me for the fecal test. They only charged me for the medicine shot. It was about 30 dollars or so. Good luck help the pup gets better soon.
with a visit fee you’re looking at anywhere from 60 – 120 bucks….
I would imagine…you can call the vet and ask
You can get dewormer at petsmart..I do it all the time.
It depends on the vet, it cost me 13 dollars with the medicine included. It cost my cousin at a different vet 200 dollars for the fecal test and the same pills.
Depending on the vet an appointment will cost 30-50 bucks, typically. Call around and see if you can get into one for around 30-40, though.
Vets don’t see a dog without charging for the office visit and that varies widely, so instead of posting here, call them and find out
It won’t cost much…and reguardless of the cost you need to do it.. Maybe they will charge a partial exam fee, but shouldn’t charge for a full check up. so meds, fecal exam and partial check up is all you should be charged for..
