How long do tapeworms squirm after exiting the feline body?
A few minutes ago I gently rolled my cat up from his nap to see a greenish white stringy thing on his anus. It seemed to roll out and move but I took a second look and it was not moving.
Was it a tapeworm? How long do they live after coming out? and How often do they come out?
I made a phone call right after and when I came back my cat was licking himself there and the wormy thing was nowhere to be found.
On second thought, it might be a roundworm.
Well they were white with a greenish tint, but my room was dim so maybe I didn’t see it properly.
I looked to see if there were any in the litter box, but it was freshly cleaned.
My cat also vomited this week and twice in one week in early February. We didn’t think it was anything special happening though. (He’s a persian so hairballs sometimes make him vomit)
He’s really a fully indoor cat. Several times a year he’ll leave the house to get groomed or I’ll just carry him around the house. Perhaps the fleas are from the groomers?
greenish????
More than likely it is a tapeworm, and it isn’t over by a long shot.
The segment of the tapeworm that exited the animal will dry up and then fleas will eat the eggs which are in the segment, then the fleas will bite your animal and then the animals will bite at the wound and eat the flea and the cycle starts again.
I recommend 1800PetMeds, ValleyVet Supply, or your vet for a worm test, determine the infestation. Protect the pet from fleas, de-worm with the right medicine, treat your home and yard for fleas.
The very best medicine I have found for tapeworms is Tape Worm Tabs with praziquantel.
